"I found a diverse group of women"

I have to say I had a lot of reservations. How much time and money would I have to commit to? After all, I had a 6 month old son who was my priority and we had cut our household income in half to allow me to stay home. How would I fit in with “the girls”? But I decided to go. I had been searching for something to fill that gap, and maybe this would be it.

The impact the decision to go to that first meeting has had on my life has been immense. I found a diverse community of women in a positive atmosphere linked by common interests, friendship and service to their community. I found opportunities for a life of learning and involvement. I found opportunities to give back to my community through philanthropy events, social awareness, and community service. I found a diverse group of women, from young professionals in their 20's to retired women with years of experience behind them willing to support me in whatever I needed; friendship, advice on child rearing, important business contacts and networking when it was time for me to return to the workforce. I found that my commitment of time and finances was up to me after meeting minimal commitments of one evening a month for a meeting and small annual dues.

I have now been a member for more than 20 years. I developed personal relationships that went way beyond the monthly meeting. Once my children were a little older and I started attending the annual Province and International Conventions, I met women from all over the US and Canada to enjoy and have fun with. Without sorority, I would not have had the opportunity to form such meaningful relationships with such a diverse group of women. As my boys grew, I invested more time in sorority and reaped the rewards. My children had extra role models in their lives that they have grown to care for deeply.

Women with diverse livelihoods, diverse generations, diverse ethnicity, diverse backgrounds and experiences. But all bound together with friendship!

Circle of Friendship

Our five Life Founders created our foundation of friendship, service and community almost 100 years ago. Do you want to be part of a community-minded group of women?  Membership is open to women over 18 who are interested in our circle of friendship.

With Chapters throughout the United States and Canada, we can help put you in contact with a member near you. Come; join in the fun of giving back!

  • I love SPG for the loving, caring and friendly ladies you come to know and love from all over the U.S. and Canada at the International Convention. The contributions to communities and nonprofit organizations are most heartwarming. SPG DOES make a difference thanks to our beautiful sisters.

  • Sigma Phi Gamma has always been a "girl thing" in my family including: my daughter, my sister, my niece, and my sister-in-law.

  • I love going to International Conventions!  Road trips with sisters, adventures and funny happenings, lots of great food, making new friendships, and renewing old ones... what better way to relax and have fun than with those you love- our SPG sisters.
